About me
A little about me, my practice, and what keeps me creating.

Hi, I'm Mina!
I make art as a way of saying the things I find hard to put into words – turning thoughts and lived experiences into something that stays after the moment has passed, and returning to them.
My work is varied, because I am: curious, playful, living through both the highs and the lows. Some pieces are more emotional; others lean into happy colours and shapes. Whatever I'm making at the time is usually a reflection of where I'm at.
I work across digital art, etching and other printmaking techniques, oil painting, pencil drawing, watercolour, textile and ink.
I've been making art for as long as I can remember. I studied at Strykejernet, 2019–2021 and I'm excited to be sharing my work, and reconnecting with my art again after some time off — follow along here and on Instagram @minahbakkeli.
Where I find inspiration
Ideas reveal themselves everywhere — in music and lyrics, films, on walks, lived experience, podcasts, things I overhear people say, other artists' work, social media and in art museums.

Great artist that have inspired me
- Käthe Kollwitz — raw, deeply emotional, great craftsmanship
- Nicole Eisenman — filled with emotion, painted with warmth, humanity, and a bit of humor
- Inès Longevial — the feminine, the intimate, and the body, reflected in beautiful colour and composition
- Hilma af Klint — spiritual, feminine, and mystical — an artist who holds a special place in my heart
- Jean-Michel Basquiat — raw, playful, filled with personality
- Kandinsky — colour and form, beautiful composition — reflecting freedom and mysticism
